Studies have shown that you're likely to snack more when sweets are in a transparent container is within easy reach... than when you have to get up to get to it. These result's aren't earthshaking, but they remind us of an important principle: "out of sight, out of mind" ("in sight, in mind").

keep a symbol of it visible or audible. This could be a photo or drawing, word or a phrase, or a piece of music. Good idea is to refresh the symbol periodically to refresh its power to remind you to take action.
It also could connect to drug-use and well: many other types of activities. When you see the object of you desire your mind responds to it releasing dopamine which drives you through action. This positive pattern could be used in a building or destroying way.
